We've been to OFFF.

Being inspired by last year’s OFFF Festival Opening Titles (you should really check them out!) and the number of special guests showing up at the event, we have decieded to visit Paris and take a look at this year’s edition of OFFF. Digesting dozens of keynotes and work by the Famous and Successful is always a good way to recharge your batteries and rethink about yor own business. The Festival has lasted for 3 days. And even though this year’s Opening Titles by The Mill weren’t as much excellent as the Prologue ones, the festival still made us pretty excited.
Here are some random notes of ours:
1. You may know this: OFFF Festival is not only about the web. Sure, there are plenty of guys talking about latest trends in the internet, but fans of motion design, typography, graphic design and even music are welcome there too.
2. OFFF is big, but not enormous. You come in, sit down and listen to a (hopefully) great speech of a studio you really admire. No fancy-schmancy distractions. If you have been to Pictoplasma - then you already know what sort of venue this is.
3. Firstborn team is still at the top of their game. They had a great lecture about improving your work. They build user interfaces for their Flash projects so that graphic and motion designers can control the tweens and scripts easily. Sweet!
4. Sosolimited are the hit! They have presented their 'Prime Numeric' project that looks both beautiful and disturbing. A prefect blend of neat typography and inspiring programing!
5. Non-Format: just in case you didn't know they are the best graphic design studio EVER, they also had simply the craziest and funniest talk at OFFF.
6. Keith Schofield and H5 haven't shown up. What a shame!
7. We thought it's a little bit passe to talk about street art that we already know. Come on guys! It's OFFF! New media!
8. Even though their speech was bollocks, we love Projector Inc.
9. We haven' known Machine Molle before, but they have created one of the best videos we've been always admiring.
10. When you make a speech - stand up! Too many times during the festival we've seen guys behind their Macs on tables.
And above all: Going back to the roots and creating something wicked and innovative will be always the best way to show off.
Homework done!
Oh, and when in Paris, please use a bike.
